Biography

Coloquio 6 is a wind sextet, a dynamic ensemble that performs music from the 18th and 19th centuries on period instruments. The group is formed by six young and talented musicians, eager to show the richness and extraordinary possibilities of the music played with a historically informed perspective. The unique combination of instruments from the Harmoniemusik (two clarinets, two horns, and two bassoons) offers a distinctive sound and charm perfectly suited to captivate and enchant the audience.

The ensemble’s name comes from the Spanish word “Coloquio” , meaning “conversation” because their members believe music is an endless conversation and exchange of ideas and emotions between themselves and their listeners. Our main aim is to excite them and awaken their imaginations, in the same way that Harmoniemusiek groups did.

The members of our ensemble are early music professionals who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, The Netherlands: Pablo Traine, Francisco Javier Sánchez, Janire de Paz, Carolina Guiducci, Sergio Sánchez and William Gough. We have actively collaborated with some of the most famous and renowned ensembles of the European early music scene, such as Theresia Orchestra, Jeune Orchestre Baroque Européen, Orchestra of the 18th Century, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Saintes Festival, Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment, among others. They have also been pioneers in being the first early music ensemble to take part in festivals such as Arcen Kasteeltuinen or Muziek Zomer in The Netherlands.

Our repertoire includes original works by great composers such as Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, as well as countless arrangements of famous operas and ballets adapted for sextet. We have a preference for performing in historical monuments and public gardens, as these were the places where this festive music was performed for the nobility and bourgeoisie of the time, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to recreate this special atmosphere today for a much broader audience.
